No. It’s tax collected in advance and credited to your PAN — you adjust it against your final liability when filing. Excess TDS comes back as a refund.

What is the TDS on rent?

2% for individuals/HUF (10% for others) when annual rent exceeds ₹6 lakh (individuals). File Form 26QC for the deduction.

TDS on freelance/professional income?

10% under Section 194J once annual payments cross ₹50,000. Technical services and royalty have their own rates.

How do I check TDS deducted on me?

Form 26AS and the Annual Information Statement (AIS) on incometax.gov.in show all TDS/TCS credited to your PAN.
