The short answer

If you spend ₹50,000/month today at age 30, you’ll need roughly ₹2.9 lakh/month at 60 (6% inflation) — and a corpus near ₹7 crore. That sounds huge, but a ₹25,000 monthly SIP at 12% for 30 years builds about ₹7.6 crore. Time does the heavy lifting.

How to use the retirement calculator

  1. Enter your age, retirement age and expenses.
  2. Set inflation and return assumptions.
  3. See your corpus target and required monthly saving.

Retirement Calculator — FAQs

How much corpus do I need to retire in India?

A rule of thumb: 25–30x your annual expenses at retirement. At ₹12 lakh/year expenses, that’s ₹3–3.6 crore — adjusted for inflation to your retirement year.

What is a safe withdrawal rate?

Around 4% per year is the classic guideline: your corpus should be ~25x what you withdraw annually so it lasts 25–30 years.

Should I count EPF and PPF in my corpus?

Yes — project them to retirement and subtract from your target. The calculator’s monthly figure is what you still need to save beyond them.

What inflation rate should I assume?

6% is a reasonable long-term assumption for India — headline inflation plus lifestyle creep.
