Running Pace Calculator — FAQs

What’s a good 5K time for beginners?

30–35 minutes (6:00–7:00/km) is a solid first goal. Sub-25 is strong; sub-20 is serious.

How do I predict marathon time?

Double your half-marathon time and add ~10–20 minutes (Riegel formula). A 2:00 half ≈ 4:10–4:20 full.

What is ‘conversational pace’?

A pace where you can speak in full sentences — roughly 60–70% of max heart rate. This is where aerobic fitness is built.

Should I run by pace or heart rate?

Heart rate adapts to heat, hills and fatigue; pace doesn’t. Use HR for easy days, pace for workouts.
