BMI Calculator
Check your Body Mass Index and understand what it means.
At 170 cm and 70 kg, your BMI is 24.2 — in the healthy range (18.5–24.9). Note: Asian/Indian bodies carry more fat at the same BMI, so many Indian doctors use 23 as the overweight cut-off instead of 25. BMI also can’t tell muscle from fat — athletes should check body fat % too.

BMI Calculator — FAQs
What is a healthy BMI?
18.5–24.9 by WHO standards. For Asian Indians, many clinicians flag 23+ as overweight because of higher body-fat at lower BMIs.
Is BMI accurate?
It’s a screening tool, not a diagnosis. Muscular people score ‘overweight’; it also ignores where fat sits — belly fat matters most.
How is BMI calculated?
Weight (kg) ÷ height (m)². At 70 kg and 1.7 m: 70 ÷ 2.89 = 24.2.
What should I do if my BMI is high?
Focus on waist size, activity and diet quality rather than the number alone — and see a doctor before starting anything drastic.
